Seven murals by Manchester mosaicist Mark Kennedy adorn the exterior walls of the Affleck’s vintage store in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Each one depicts local cultural icons, including Coronation Street, the city’s two football teams, Vimto, Factory Records, Oasis, Rolls Royce and the Sex Pistols.
Afflecks had a previous set of murals that were removed by the outgoing owner in 2008. The new owners, Bruntwood, commissioned new pieces from Mark Kennedy as part of a general renovation of the store. These new works were unveiled as part of the store’s 30th birthday celebrations in 2012.

These are very unique and strangely beautiful. Wish I could see them in person, but since that’s not possible, thanks for sharing.

These are great. Love the fractured look they went with. Did Boris Karloff come from Manchester? Thanks for contributing to this week’s Monday Mural.
