When I first visited Moscow in 1979, St Basil’s was under scaffolding for a major clean. So when I got back there last year, the first thing I wanted to see was this Cathedral.
It did not disappoint.
The coloured domes are beautiful, as I expected. What did surprise me was how small it is inside, and how beautiful and intricate the patterns are that decorate it.
