-Look Up, Look Down Challenge, Week 38

Despite all the new skyscrapers in London, the BT Tower stands out on the skyline. No matter where you are in London, it never seems far away.
Opened in 1965, with the main structure standing 177 metres tall, the Post Office Tower (as it was then) was the tallest building in London until 1980, when it was surpassed by the NatWest Tower. It was open to the public for visits and for meals in its revolving restaurant.
The tower is no longer open to the public, though it does sometimes feature in the London Open House weekends.

What a great photo challenge. I just love taking pictures of cities from above and have to get to every viewpoint I can find while traveling 😉

Unlike Toby’s comment, I think the BT Tower is such an iconic London building. It’s a pity it’s no longer open to the public.

Oh my! What an interesting building! I’ve never seen it before, it must have been cool eating in the restaurant. Nice shots.

It was. I was lucky enough to get back there on business a couple of years ago, for a special BT event. I only had my phone camera and it was hazy so the photos were useless.

BT tower brings back a shedload of memories… my campus was just round the corner, and one of my fave Indian restaurants is, too.

Funny the Post Office Tower is one of the first buildings I remember on my first trip to London on my own.

I remember buying a postcard with the stamps that featured the Post Office Tower and posting it from a special post box in the tower. I still have them soemwhere.
