Most mornings, I awake to the throaty ka-chu-chu call of two friendly red-legged partridges.
These chubby birds come from Southern Europe, as opposed to the smaller (and tastier, apparently) grey British partridges. Normally found in open fields, this pair have taken a liking to my garden.
I always think of the Partridge Family whenever I see these birds.
