Hex colour reference: #d68a59
A colourful note: sienna is an earth pigment containing iron oxide and magnesium oxide, which provide shades of orange and red. In its natural state it verges on yellow-brown and is termed raw sienna; when heated it turns red-brown and is called burnt sienna.
It is named after Siena, in Tuscany, where the pigment was produced in large quantities back in the Renaissance.
The yellow-brown raw sienna shade first appeared in Crayola crayon form in its original collection in 1903, but was discontinued in 1910. However, the name resurfaced in 1958, but as a browner shade than its original incarnation.
