  1. I was in Edinburgh with my family in 1996, and we saw the tattoo…I’ll never forget it. I’ve forgotten how I got up to the castle, because my feet were extremely sore, so I couldn’t walk as far as, nor as well as my brothers and sister, not even as far as my 70+ parents.
    I only know we were on the road, and it was quite painful for me, but I have never regretted going up there. The Edinburgh Military Tattoo has been the highlight of my life—in particular the lone piper playing on the castle ramparts. Just thinking about it always gives me a thrill, even more than 20 years later.
