The colours, the peaceful words and the well-behaved children were all ready to wish us a Happy Christmas. But the detail removes the happiness.
This is the work of Otto Schade, a Chilean street artist who is now based in London.

A colourful note: sunglow was a new name and shade, joining the Crayola fluorescent collection in 1990.
This light orange, a cheerful shade of gold, is a good depiction, which is often used to refer to the colour of the sky after sunset. The first recorded use of sunglow as a colour name in English was in 1924.

I had to take a second look to realize the sadness!

Great mural. It’s sad that the Christmas tree, a symbol of peace has to be covered in guns to remind us of the violence in this world of ours!

At first that is a really sweet image until one looks closely at that “Christmas” tree. Terrific art work.

Not one for my lounge wall.
But he uses great skill to draw you in and then shock.

No, I only translated the artist’s surname, that’s all.

chilling – because I would have missed the artillery – the artist sounds interesting and I would be curious to see some of your old photos (read your comment to Sue)

Yes. Sues gong to send us links to hers and I’m hunting for my photos. I’ve found one from Paris. But I’m sure there are more.

I’ve posted some sinister Osch images myself in the past….but I didn’t know his name

He was kind to sign this one clearly. I seen similar designs before but hadn’t noticed that sinister element. I’ll have to look back at old photos and see if they were his and if I missed the underlying element!

I love all the pictures you post! I have looked at the Color Your World challenge with great interest but I am not sure how to participate in a meaningful way. I am just back from a trip to Cuba which obviously is heaven for such a challenge but I see you love it too! I love your eye!
