After a wonderful break in Venice, I have a mass of indelible memories. High on the unforgettable list is the fritella – a light doughnut style cake that is a special feature of the Carnival period. Once viewed as Venice’s national cake, it now appears in the run up to Carnival and leaves everyone’ sweet tooth empty once the fiesta is over.

Oh, I always like a good reason to visit a place!
Is it a year round treat for you or seasonal?
