I grew up just around the corner from Brick Lane. The only excitement we had then, as a kid, was the Sunday morning market. Otherwise it was a boring place, only empty streets during the week and perhaps some hopscotch games written by chalk on the pavements from the kids that played there. No street art, you would have had to scrape the dirt away first.
