Last Monday I shared a brightly coloured piece that I came across on a wall in Arles; a striking face by Manyoly. Later in the week, I headed into Marseille for a very brief visit before flying home. I headed up into Le Panier, my favourite area in this wonderful city, where I was greeted by abundant street art. Much to my delight, I discovered that Manyoly has made herself at home here, as both dwelling place and canvas.
The amount of street art in this part of the city has grown massively in the last couple of years and Manyoly’s striking works greeted me repeatedly.

The composition of the second shot is truly stunning, you place emphasis on the artwork however draw the viewer in slowly through the beautiful positioning of the archway and props – fabulous photo! Wow, a definite feast for the eyes. Her style is now imprinted on my brain. No matter what her color, the eyes are always the most gripping part of the composition. Thanks for contributing to this week’s Monday Mural.

Thanks Simon
It’s what I try to do but can be hard. And I sometimes get caught up with documenting rather than being artistic!

They’re growing on me! I wasn’t sure at first. 🙂 🙂 Love the situation of that second one, on the door. Happy Monday, Debs!

These faces seemed so at home in Marseille. The artist has felt the same and moved there – maybe that’s why her work is more appealing now?

I just had trouble adjusting to the strong colour, Debs, but the faces are beautiful. 🙂
