After the storm

I got caught up in Typhoon Doksuri on my recent trip to Vietnam.  Fortunately for me, it ended up being an inconvenience more than anything serious but it was worse further up the coast, with some serious damage to property and a number of deaths and injuries.

I was in Hue, where there was strong wind, heavy rain, greyness and warnings not to leave the hotel.  Airports were closed and my flight to Hanoi was cancelled.  But I still ate well and me and my clothes dried out eventually!

Fishing in the Perfume River,  Hue,  Vietnam,  September 2017

The morning after landfall, the fishermen made a beeline for the river.  The continuing rain was no deterrent!

And look who’s behind one of those umbrellas:

  1. wow – glad all was well with the storm and love the color of the two umbrellas. and seeing the “dove” on the teal umbrella made me wonder as to the story of the umbrellas.
