The weather was far from Spring-like on my recent trip to Devon: the rain was way more constant than April showers; the sun was exceedingly talented at hiding. But I couldn’t resist popping down the road to see the donkeys.
I didn’t expect to find any outside their barns – donkeys don’t have waterproof coats – but there were a few hardy, or daft, ones that braved the weather.
If you can’t get there in person you can visit them via the webcams at the Sanctuary’s website. There are many ways to give support to the donkeys and their helpers, including adoption – and Ruby is one of those available for adoption.

I’d love to have a few donkeys. One of the highlights of our penultimate day in the Algarve this winter was coming across one working. She looked very happy but clearly wasn’t really in the mood for working!

Oh poor soaking babies, good thing they’re hardy, looks great and extra wet in b&w.

They are lovely donkeys. They do look a bit wet but they are dealing with it. It is nice that you have supported the sanctuary with this post.

If I spent much time there I’d have to go and volunteer – donkeys are incredibly loyal animals
