The old streets of Sheki, in northern Azerbaijan, are full of fascinating buildings with great roofs. Sadly, time, weather and cost of repair have taken their toll, and many have been repaired using corrugated metal rather than traditional materials. I suppose metal has become the new tradition.

Some of it is thanks to work, but I always add on some local travels while there.

Work takes you to some interesting places. I’d say I wish I’d had your job, but it strikes me I don’t actually know what you do!

My job is a mix of technical, research and advocacy. Sometimes fascinating, sometimes not. The travel usually wins!

Oh you’ve been to so many incredible places. I’m actually enjoying the chilly air of this beautiful shot as I’ve just come indoors, too hot on my terrace and it’s not even 9am yet!

I’ve just been for a walk for a couple of hours and really enjoyed the shade provided by trees.
