Istanbul, April 2015
Istanbul’s long history of mixed cultures and ethnicities is clearly visible as you wander its streets, but the most satisfying way to view this melting pot is to clamber up onto a roof or two.
The old city is still partially encompassed by the fifth century Walls of Constantinople, and the rest of the buildings are a hotch pitch of Byzantine, Genoese and Ottoman styles, with dashes of modern lifestyle including graffiti and mobile phones.

I’m sad to say farewell to the June square roofs, but happy to leave you with these captures of a city of which I have fond memories.
