The Torre Glories, or Torre Agbar, has towered tall over Barcelona since 2005. This oval structure stands 144 metres tall, thanks to French architect Jean Novel, who was influenced by the natural beauty of Montserrat and the architectural curves of Gaudi. It was originally home to the water company Grup Agbar, and its shape and design has also been likened to a water geyser, with Nouvel himself saying “this tower is a fluid mass that bursts through the ground like a geyser under permanent, calculated pressure”. Others have detected more phallic influences.
Impressive in daylight, it is yet more striking at night when the multi-coloured windows flaunt their hues without shame. However, the building is not practical for those inside, with far too many windows that require cleaning, plus the dirty panes are too small to provide decent views and they either let in no light or far too much light!
And now a chance to tower tall with Gene Pitney:
Now over to all of you. Do come and join us in our Saturday six-word musings.
OK, I know i overshot the limit. I managed a couple of sixes and then i succumbed do verbosity and even some music. So I’m chilled about a bit or rule breaking – the key rule is to have a title of six words – and then create around that the post that you desire! Perhaps in bunches of 6 words if you’re feeling inspired.
To join the challenge, please put a link in your post to the URL of this post. Then come back here and leave us a comment. If you have any problems with linking, just put your own URL into the comment. And do feel free to socialise digitally – tweet, instagram, flickr, etc. with the hashtagtags #SixWordSaturday and #6WS.

I’m glad you added it – it’s a wonderful image (and perfect 6 words)

In my opinion the building is quite ugly, but at least it creates a talking point! I, too, get the phallic reference – I wonder what that says about me?
Here is the link to my entry this week, I hope you like it

I’ve only ever seen the Torre in daylight, and it’s quite striking, definitely phallic 😉
Mine’s much more innocent, I met these ladies today, https://lucidgypsy.com/2018/08/18/six-word-saturday-100-years/

Whenever I see or hear the name Gaudi, I immediately think of this song, even if its been 5 – 10 years since I last heard it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WZqWjKtgaM

Not really my sort of building, but a good find for the challenge. I’m just getting ready for work, so without further ado, here’s my link and I hope you have a wonderful weekend:

I know similar buildings on smaller scale where the architects outdid themselves creating something visually striking with scant regard for the people who have to live with their creation. Having said that – yes, I see a phallus inspired structure – but I have no problem with this 😀
My contribution for today is the opposite to yours – not really a comment on Jean Novel as I prepared the post last night: https://picturesimperfect2.wordpress.com/2018/08/18/he-did-the-monster-mash-smash/

Curious…and I’m in the phallic influences camp! Anyway, here’s my rather more ancient offering: https://suejudd.com/2018/08/18/six-word-saturday-something-solid-the-romans-left-behind/

I remember it well, Debs. An odd looking thing, but adding to the Barcelona skyline. Better at dusk than in daylight. 🙂 🙂 A Gene Pitney fan? I don’t know this one.

I did quite like Gene Pitney, at least it brings back memories. This one I found in a hunt for inspiration on the word count!

Extraordinary structure, Debbie. And Gene Pitney too. How I used to love 24 hours to Tulsa.

I was searching for inspiration for my title and the word tower, and up popped good old gene. Yes, I loved that one too.

Afraid I’d fall into the “phallic influences” camp. Can’t imagine it’s great to work in either.

It has changed hands three times in the last few years – and I’ve seen many moans online about how awful it is inside

I do wonder sometimes if “human occupation” is even considered in the design of some buildings and urban landscapes. Sigh!
