All-weather lifeboat called to an emergency,  Salcombe,  Devon,  August 2018

This was just one of the emergency calls I saw the Salcombe RNLI respond to in my recent stay.

The Salcombe station has 2 boats and is operated by a team of 34 local men and women, 21 sea going, 12 shore- based and 1 Lifeboat Medical Adviser. Salcombe sits on the southern tip of Devon with challenging headlands and waters and close to busy shipping lanes, requiring the Lifeboat Station be permanently manned, so two of the team, the coxswain and mechanic, work full time.

To see the team in action pop over to the BBC where a recent episode of their Saving Lives at Sea series follows the Salcombe team.

Now over to all of you. Do come and join us in our Saturday six-word musings.

I’ll admit that many of us openly break the numeric rule and share far more words (all excellent of course!) so the key rule is to have a title of six words – and then create around that the post that you desire! Perhaps in bunches of 6 words if you’re feeling inspired.

To join the challenge, please put a link in your post to the URL of this post. Then come back here and leave us a comment. If you have any problems with linking, just put your own URL into the comment. And do feel free to socialise digitally – tweet, instagram, flickr, etc. with the hashtagtags #SixWordSaturday and #6WS.

  1. Growing up on the waters in and around Florida, I am well familiar to the rescues system we have around the world and so thankful for all of them. May they get the well deserved thanks they deserve.
