Oman enjoys a 2-day national holiday in November every year, celebrating the country’s history, its independence from Portuguese rule in 1650, and the birthday of the current Sultan, Qaboos Bin Said Al Said.

They were indeed. I haven’t read about that part of Oman history, but their previous presence was visible, especially in the forts dotted around the country
