“The Thinker Child” by RUN, East Croydon, January 2019
This is another mural that came to East Croydon during the 2018 Rise Festival (you can see its close neighbour here) and can be viewed from the platforms at East Croydon railway station.
This piece is the work of the Italian-born street artist, RUN, who now lives and works in London. “The Thinker Child” is intended to show man’s importance, independence and ability to unite – he holds the moon with one hand, whilst the other touches the earth.

Curious — is the work pasted onto the building? I can’t visualize how it covers part of a window. I also wonder if the people who live behind the window mind having their light and view blocked.

It is painted direct onto the brickwork. I’m not sure if the building is still used – many of the windows are boarded up. It was created as part of a street art festival so permission would have been obtained.
