This 52-storey building was the tallest building in Hong Kong, in fact the first true skyscraper, when it was built in 1973. It has since been dwarfed by many, but still stands out clearly, partly because of an agreement made with the government to limit the height of any buildings to its north i.e. between it and the harbour.
It’s porthole-inspired design has earned it an easily remembered nickname: “House of a Thousand Arseholes”

Thanks to everyone who joined in for our puzzling week. A big thank you to Tom who puzzled us all with something entirely unpuzzling; to Elaine for a beautiful shot of a real puzzle; to Yvette for a book full of puzzling questions that will challenge your brain (plus some lovely art to calm it down); and to Brian who should be proud of koalifications..

Wow 1973 – a year after I got married! The nickname “works” in English, but I wonder if it does in Mandarin:) Telling that it was in Hong Kong, and not at the mainland:) Great find Debbie, and thank you so much for showing the tree moving with the wind for All Seasons! I see that often here – very noisy when the leaves are on the trees! Have a lovely week:)

That nickname is funny (and hopefully not completely apropos)! Looking up like that makes for a fascinating perspective. I’ve gone with much more intimate and cheerful. 🙂

My first thought was that it might be a government building – but i think it’s big business.

Hmmmm…I wonder what type of business takes place in a building termed as it is.

That building makes me think of some sort of game board for marbles or pegs.
I went for a summer theme after driving through snow yesterday.

I’m glad about that – here it is gale force winds, rain and hail. So the bright yellow and perfect circle was much appreciated David

I can see that it’s the name. The architect was asking for it, wasn’t he?
My offering today is rather more colourful: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2019/03/17/circles-in-my-mind/

It was an impressive structure – not as glitzy as more recent additions to Hong Kong, but its repetitiveness stands out
