Thanks to everyone who brought us some monument(al) last week – you gave us a great variety of size, type and location. Special thanks to Su for two monuments with strong stories behind them, and to Sue for a striking monument from one of her favourite places. And apologies to any of you that I didn’t get over to – I’m afraid work slowed down my blogging this week.

Last week’s pingback didn’t seem to work so here is my offering on this week’s theme. Rather than sound, the theme made me think of a quantity of gas or liquid. https://ellamacdonald.net/volume/

There have been pingback problems for a while – sorry the last one failed. It worked this week – and I love your post. Thank you Ella

I’m covering my ears just thinking about being that close. I went with edible volume, as you already know. 🙂

Lovely image Debbie, you can just imagine the noise that would make. Hope you were well clear before it sounded. – Bren xx

I hope you stepped back before they sounded it!
I have a silent volume on offer (I also was tempted to show a book 🙂 ) – but knowing your passion for graffiti I think one you will like: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2019/09/15/crank-up-the-volume/

In Sweden those are called “mistlur”. The first part, mist, is English, while “lur” means horn. The sound they give is impressive.

I like that name – and thank you for telling me that, Maria. I love learning words and their make-up. The Swedish version sounds a much gentler word than the English.

Interesting where you went with this. So many ways to interpret this one word. I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with. Mine is ready, just looking for a whole in my schedule to put it 🙂

Yes, it’s one of those words that seems obvious once you’ve got your interpretation, but actually there are many very different angles.
