Cool mural. But.. isn´t it a tad unfair? If a womann says “no” does she has to give something?

Very interesting tradition, Debbie. I always thought it would be strange to be a Leap
baby and only experience your real birthdate every four years.

I was thinking I might try it in 2024 when I’ll be 65 and should get plenty of rejections !!

What an excellent discovery? I wonder how many people actually do this. We had a friend whose birthday was Feb. 29, so theoretically, he only had a birthday every four years! 😦

We have the same tradition here in Sweden, but I think it originated in England.

It comes from Ireland in fact – an Irish nun struck a deal with St Patrick.

I read up a bit. In some areas the gift was twelve pairs of silk gloves so that the lady could cover her ringless fingers every month of the following year … In Germany, 29 February is only associated with bad luck (if you graft trees on this day, they will only carry every four years, marriages started on this day will not last, and leap years are said to be particularly cold … HA!) . I like the Mexican superstition that working on leap day brings nothing but bad luck. I’m going to be very lazy today!!
