View to River Tagus, Lisbon, March 2020
The seven hills of Lisbon make for strenuous walking, but deliver stunning views across rooftops and down to the wide river.
A new cruise terminal now sits below the castle in what was the Jardim do Tabaco dock. In a spring with reduced travel volumes, there were only one or two ships there on my recent visit, but in high season this must be a very unattractive line of ships below the beautiful rooftops and tiled walls of old Lisbon.

I’m a bit awful but I’d ban cruise ships if I had my way. And that’s apart from them being floating cans of germs. And I love being on the sea. 🙂 🙂

Me too, almost. I know they are the only means of travel for some people so I’d agree to very limited numbers and out of sight!

I think that new terminal may be a white elephant before it’s had a chance to get that lived-in look.

I can certainly see how those cruise ship behemoths ruin the beauty of the scene. All those red roofs are amazing!
