Spring is well settled now, with summer only a month away. Bright colours are popping up in the woods and hedgerows. I’m still missing the carpets of bluebells, but buttercups, forget-me-knots and foxgloves are working hard to replace them. And I saw my first red poppy a couple of days ago.
St Albans, Spring 2020
The weather has been very windy and cloudy the last few days which makes close ups a bit tricky, and the poppy seemed a little battered, but the colours were still there.

Curse of my Algarvian walks are strong winds and attempts to take close ups! These are glorious

Yes, macro isn’t my natural mode for photography, and I am slowly remembering small aperture and fast exposure. At least in the Algarve, you have plenty of light to mix in with that (not that I can complain about today’s light).

I love how each photo shows a striking version of its hue! Even the yellows are jumping over those white daisies!

It was good light on the daisy.

We’ve just seen our first poppy too. Early for foxgloves here yet though.

Not that far away but quite a difference in flowering times! Our ferns and foxgloves are doing quite well. There isn’t really anywhere that’s great on poppies near me so I’m lucky to see even that one!

The colors of spring do not last long enough, missing my peonies already! Your photos are lovely.
