When was the West pier abandoned? It looks like a ghost pier!

More than 40 years ago! I used to come to Brighton regularly in the 80s and it was closed then, although the structure was still very visible. Over the years it slowly began to fall into disrepair, and then there were a couple of severe storms and a fire 😦

Sadly, I didn’t know it then. But it’s a great reason to visit Brighton now, especially with a camera.
