Kingfisher on River Ver, St Albans, Hertfordshire, November 2020
Now over to all of you. Do come and join us in our Saturday six-word musings.
I’ll admit that many of us openly break the numeric rule and share far more words (all excellent of course!) so the key rule is to have a title of six words – and then create around that the post that you desire! Perhaps in bunches of 6 words if you’re feeling inspired.
To join the challenge, please put a link in your post to the URL of this post. Then come back here and leave us a comment. If you have any problems with linking, just put your own URL into the comment. And do feel free to socialise digitally – tweet, instagram, flickr, etc. with the hashtags #SixWordSaturday and #6WS.

Such a pretty color blue on the kingfisher bird.
I’ve seen this challenge for quite some time. I decided to give it a whirl.
Hope you enjoy … Isadora 😎

There was a big hint – a huge crows had gathered at the edge of the river so I knew there must be a kingfisher hiding 🙂

Always nice to spy a Kingfisher. I used to hear them more than see them in southern Cheshire. Here’s my Six Word contribution for Saturday:

Ah, you caught the Kingfisher! We have them here nearby, but I have never managed to get one single photo…the are so very fast – did you use glue ; -D? When my daughter lived in New Zealand she found a natural bathing pool in the forest where they had a nest just by the water. She could sit in the warm water just watching them fly in and out of that river bank. I loved her stories about them.

Oh wow, and you got it twice, though the second one is upside down. 😉 Great capture, Debbie. They are so pretty, these birds. I have never spotted one, though they live in the Netherlands as well. We call them ‘ijsvogels’, so ‘ice birds’. I have no idea why.
Have a good weekend, everyone!

Thanks Elke. This was quite a lot about a good camera, I have to admit. This is a very very very tight crop.

Funnily enough, the reflection was easier to spot than the bird itself.

Marvellous! And with the reflection, two for the price of one! Here’s my seasonal take: https://suejudd.com/2020/11/14/many-of-the-leaves-have-fallen/

I often spit them on that dude if the river. Though they are usually flitting around. This one seemed quite content to watch the crowd.

P.S Not expecting to be there- sorry!- we have an outdoor concert at lunchtime. The last possible before we are locked down on weekend afternoons- a bit bizarre! But it’s raining so it could be called off! 😦

It’s raining here too! A wet weekend, in fact. I hope your concert happens, Jo, but do join if you’re rained off. (And we arranged the lockdown timing so you’d be able to talk to us 😀😀😀)

Kingfisher’s are often mentioned on the nature show I enjoy called “Autumnwatch!” It is a real beautiful sight 🙂
Also I had fun writing my post for this challenge – I used six word sentences and in the title.

Lovely! They are not easy to catch. I am always amazed that they are so hard to spot when they are sitting on a branch despite their colourful feathers.

No. They’re an urban (rural) myth. Debbie’s clever enough to mock up a photo 😉
