I said I might be back with more rooftop activity
And here is a more recent version of Up on the roof, featuring its composer, Carole King :

Wonderful photos and that song is perfect to go with it. One of my favorite songs too.

The top picture looks like a still out of a Bond movie.

I didn’t think it would be possible to lurk on the roof of a mausoleum but that guy certainly manages to lurk, particularly in the second shot. 😀

Yes, I managed to clamber up there for the view (via stairs not climbing the cliff!) and that nice man helped me up the last few steps. Goodness knows what he thought – this vertigo-endowed woman, with two cameras hanging round neck, tripod on back, and a sweatshirt around her head in a turbanesque style. But it was worth it! https://travelwithintent.com/2018/06/07/azerbaijan-diri-baba-mausoleum-roof-dome/

Contemplating life, or death, up there, Debs? 🙂 🙂 They’re a nice combination, Taylor and King, aren’t they?

Yes, they work well together. I found a version with King on her own, but it was better with the combo 🙂

This was part of my day trip transfer between hotels. A great site that I would probably not have found otherwise. There weren’t many Azerbaijan guidebooks around. But the people were very helpful and keen to use their English. And the weather was kind that day too.
