Special thanks go to Carol for showing us ugly converted into beauty in many ways; to Dawn for her gentle goodbye to ugliness; to Sandy for a great title and some wonderful uglies; and to Elke for showing the ugliness of not taking care of our environment.

I was inspired to use the wonky angle by a book called Vertiginous Moscow!

It’s a word I love. I suffer from vertigo and this soft adjective just sounds the way I feel!

When I first saw this word I thought I was going to have to look it up. Your picture, however explains it perfectly!

An icon, ugly or otherwise. Working on a jigsaw that includes it, not easy.

Hmmm, not the most attractive thing I’ve ever seen, especially as it’s so much larger than everything around it. I wasn’t sure what I would have for this, although something from Yosemite seemed like the best choice. If I’d taken a camera with me when I had to get on the roof of our two-story house in Ohio, that would have worked, but I’d never have felt comfortable doing that. Instead I’m going with a bit of whimsy from the WNDR Museum in Chicago.

And I agree with your comment on the Shard. It’s hard to get an attractive photo of it, because it is a tall, skinny loner. It needs a good sky to compete with it.

After a couple of false starts I went with a archive photo from around 30 years ago when I wasn’t afraid of heights and hadn’t fallen off a ladder making the fear of heights worse:

But what if you mix height with turning and tumbling?
