I wonder about claims of extra cleaning. Maids aren’t getting extra money. I suppose with occupancy very low, there may be enough time to do the extra work if staffing levels permit.

As you say, occupancy is minute at the moment and many hotels require completion of a detailed form for anyone claiming to have a reason to stay in a hotel so definitely time to do extra. How much cleaning is actually extra I’m not sure. But most hotels are wrapping and sealing things so that you can tell if anyone else has used things such as phone and tv remote. There should be a big increase in visitors from 17 May so let’s hope we come starts to rise for hotels and their staff.

Hilton is my favourite hotel chain! However, I would have assumed all those items would have been cleaned and sanitized even before a pandemic!

With the virus we are more aware of everything we touch. Always washing hands or using sanitizer. I hate to say it …. but the one good thing about the virus is that it might have made us more aware of what is lurking on every surface. 😦

‘Extra’ cleaning? I would like to think that was all part of the normal cleaning regimen. So what happens after Covid then? They won’t bother cleaning any of those things at all?

I think much of this is just to prove they are following the tight regulations imposed on them to avoid having to pay huge fines.
