Odeon and Pyzm, Brighton seafront, East Sussex
(originally Kingswest Centre, built 1965)
Now over to all of you. Do come and join us in our Saturday six-word musings.
I’ll admit that many of us openly break the numeric rule and share far more words (all excellent of course!) so the key rule is to have a title of six words – and then create around that the post that you desire! Perhaps in bunches of 6 words if you’re feeling inspired.
To join the challenge, please put a link in your post to the URL of this post. Then come back here and leave us a comment. If you have any problems with linking, just put your own URL into the comment. And do feel free to socialise digitally – tweet, instagram, flickr, etc. with the hashtags #SixWordSaturday and #6WS.

Not to everyone’s taste but I love the geometry of it 😃 Here’s mine: https://jezbraithwaite.blog/2022/03/22/barely-a-straight-line-in-sight-lens-artists-191/

Quite an accomplishment. I think any modern building finds it hard to fit in on Brighton seafront. Popping over now to see what goes with your six words 🙂

I think it’s a nice one, very unique. I like the blue railing/ fencing, whatever it’s called 😄

I think my photos, and the sun, may have given it a bit of added glamour, but I still think “ugly” is a harsh term for this unusual design

Ugly is a good word for it. If it was in Russia it would pass for Soviet era architecture!

Not tall enough for Soviet architecture, though they may well have liked this roof 🙂

All those patterns almost make me dizzy!

The roof was certainly a bold design

Lots of points, triangles repeating in pattern going on there!

Wow! That’s really…something. I know it was “the” place for Prinny and company and also a bit over the top so I guess this building keeps that part going. 🙂

The top edge of the building is definitely saying, look at me look at me. My six word subject is saying, baa. https://fakeflamenco.com/2022/03/19/verona-happy-corrugated-lamb-2-ewes/

The palace was considered by some to be even uglier when it was built!

Yes, it has a very striking roof. I think it might get more admirers if it was taller

It stands out as odd down on the sea front but it has plenty of competition for the ugliest!

I always think the people of Brighton should take a good look around them, there are far uglier buildings and a lot of characterless bland ones as well. This always makes me stop and look 🙂 https://alondonmiscellany.wordpress.com/2022/03/19/the-cricket-bringer-of-good-luck/

I agree, Steve. It’s a peculiar building but there are definitely worse.
And this one didn’t look bad at all on a sunny day

Unusual looking and compared to the building around it a bit odd. 🙂
