Damson & Co has recently appeared on Brewer Street, a short caffeine-seeking hop from Piccadilly Circus in London.
This friendly cafe-come-deli opened its doors in May this year, bringing us delicious coffee from Ozone, an East London company that has been brewing since 1998. The coffee is roasted in the Shoreditch premises and delivered to Damson & Co by bicycle.
I chose a stumpy, just because I find it hard to resist the name when I see it on a coffee menu. Not a stupid choice it turned out, it was smooth and aromatic, not too milky, and hot.
There is also a good selection of tea, from the UK’s only tea farm. And to fill the proverbial hole, the friendly staff serve the most delicious carrot cake – moist and nutty, with just the right amount of icing.
Damson & Co is more than a coffee shop, though. In the mornings they specialise in organic egg breakfasts, such as Eggs Benedict or the house muffin with baked egg fritter, baked beans and cheese. Perfect for Sunday brunch, or any day of the week.
After that, the place comes into its own with an enticing selection of English cheese and charcuterie, with English wine to round off the experience. I shall be back very soon to check all of this out. In the meantime here are some more photos to whet your appetite and thirst.

Wow. I would love to hang out there. There’s a place in New Orleans that serves coffee that is roasted in the city by their own roasters. That’s the best coffee, isn’t it? And who doesn’t love carrot cake. By the way, your picture of that cake is incredible.
