I know a lot of readers who fancy entering a photo competition and either don’t know what’s open or don’t get around to it. To help, here’s a list to get you started. Please let me know of any others you are aware of in the comments below as I update the page regularly. I must just add, that many of them provide feedback on your entered images and they are worth entering just to receive that.
Monthly calls for entries, each month with its own topic, each overseen by a world-renowned photographer or industry professional.
Monthly winners receive online exposure, $2000 in cash prizes, and feedback. Varying costs to enter, but $80 for 12 months membership gives most entries and feedback.
At the end of the year winners are exhibited in shows in New York, Paris, Rome and Tokyo.

You may enter up to four photos in TOTAL, spread across the four categories, as you wish: People; Wildlife; Landscape; Travel Icons.
Entry is open to amateur photographers only and is free to enter.
The prizes include a photographic trip to Texas.
Smithsonian Photo Contest 2019

Countryfile Photographic Competition 2018

This year’s theme is ‘Beauty and the Beasts‘, calling for photographs that capture the beauty of our countryside plus the wildlife, working animals and people within it.
Closed 15 July 2019 (extended from 30 June).
Professionals and amateurs are invited to submit 12 black and white photographs.
The fee to enter is 5000 yen (approximately $46 USD).
The winner will receive a trip to the ancient city of Kyoto to participate in the production of collotype prints and will be exhibited in a solo exhibition the following spring. Collotypes are printed with opaque oil-based pigment inks that can be meticulously layered to create images of unmatched richness and depth.

The theme is growth, calling for images that convey a sense of change or transition.
