Clouds over Potsdamer Platz

Following the demise of the Berlin Wall, Potsdamer Platz is once more a vibrant square, bustling with people.  Modern architecture and new shops and restaurants have brought life back to what had become a desolate place, damaged by war and then carved in two by the Wall.

On this sunny May day, it was hard to imagine the hard times the people here endured in the not-so-distant past.

  1. Wonderful ‘mackerel sky’. isn’t extraordinary how places with historical events [e.g., battles] associated with them seem so peaceful after time passes?

    • That and the Museum Island are completely unrecognisable from those days. And there is still a massive amount of rebuilding and renovation going on .
