Camaguey, Cuba, 6 December 2016
This daily newspaper, Granma, is the official paper of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party. It was formed in 1965 by the merger of two previous papers, Revolución and Hoy. The new name is that of the yacht that carried Fidel Castro and his fellow rebels across to Cuba in 1956, launching the Cuban Revolution.
The ashes of Fidel Castro were laid to rest in Santiago de Cuba on 4 December. The front page of the edition being read above refers to the ongoing public tributes taking place in the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery.
