Giddy Up!

Part of the Magic Column, Meersburg, Germany, April 2017

Peter Lenk’s Magische Säule (Magic Column) stands in the harbour of Bodensee’s Meersburg.  It features a few isolated, satirical sculptures of local people hanging from the central column.  The angle and lonely position of each one makes them resemble figureheads.  This man riding his hobby horse into the sky is the local aristocrat, Joseph von Laßberg (1770-1855).
