Many visitors, and even residents, don’t fully appreciate the history or beauty of the canals in Manchester.
To help bring the Rochdale Canal to life, the City Council with a number of partners, plus some funding from the European Union, have developed a self-guided audio trail. You can download maps and audio online for free at hearmanchester.
The trail includes 10 waymarkers along the canal, with further points of interest close to each waymarker.
The first waymarker is Inspiration, pictured above. The principal sights here are the Museum of Science and Technology (MOSI) and the Castlefield basin.
It is a fun and novel way to enjoy the canal, so don your comfy shoes, grab your iPod and off you go!
Happy exploring!

You never know where you are going to find yellow when you just look. I like tht the sign says how many mile the canal has to it. genie

Thanks for sharing this under-rated highlight. All I seem to associate with Rochdale is Cyril Smith. MM 🍀
