The impressive Forth Rail Bridge celebrated its 125th birthday just last week, on 4 March 2015.
It used to take a team of 30-40 painters three years to apply the bridge’s famous ruby red coat of paint. It was commonly said that as soon as one coat was complete, it was time to start again! These days, though, the bridge is covered with a paint designed to last 25 years.

wow, cool fence and bridge.

Red is bold and beautiful! Any specific reason why the bridge is painted red?

Great shot. I love the difference between the lines of the railings and the bridge itself.
