Last Saturday I was wondering if I’d find some new art on the streets of Manchester. And I did!

Originally from Blackburn, a former mill town in the north west of England, Hayley Welsh has a background in scientific and natural-history illustration.  She has exhibited internationally in London, Perth, Blackpool, Burnley, Manchester, Chester, Newcastle, Cossack, Port Hedland and New York.  In 2010, she won the prestigious David Cook Drawing Award in the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art, and the Hedland Art Award for under 25s.

She now lives in Perth, Western Australia, but was back in northern England recently, as this new Tib Street substation piece shows.
