April 23 marks the anniversary of the birth and death of Shakespeare, and this year is the 400th anniversary of his death. This means that we are being treated to an immense variety of Shakespeare-related events: theatre, music, walks, films, poetry, talks, comedy, ….
Needless to say, there will be some big anniversary events this coming weekend, but there is also plenty to enjoy for the rest of the year. I thought I’d pick out a few highlights to identify the wide choice of material and hopefully to tempt you into trying something, be it new or old, familiar or more unusual.
I will say now, that much of what I am listing is in England, but I have included at least a couple of international tours. If my geography doesn’t suit you, a quick online search will find something for you.

Lots of Shakespeare-related things going on there, Debbie. I wonder if there will be events in the States as well. I’ve enjoyed the Bard for many years and when we were homeschooling, I started with children’s versions of his plays, then moved on bit by bit until we were reading the plays aloud and attending performances. How can one not be a fan of a man who invented so many great words?!
