A colourful note:  Crayola’s beaver shade joined their crayon family as a new tone of brown in 1998.  This colour also went under a couple of alternative animal-based names temporarily: it was known as bear hug in the children’s boxes in 2008-9, and as Alaska Kodiak Bear Brown in the State Crayon Collection in 2004-6.
