A colourful note:  sienna’s shades of orange and red come from a mix of iron oxide and magnesium oxide.  In its natural state it verges on yellow-brown and is termed raw sienna; when heated it turns red-brown and is called burnt sienna.

The yellow-brown raw sienna shade first appeared in Crayola crayon form in its original collection in 1903, but was discontinued in 1910.  However, the name resurfaced in 1958, with more of a brown tint than its original incarnation.

    1. ooh, you’re right Jo. And this part of Budapest is truly beautiful. The weather was up and down that weekend, but the sun when I arrived drew me away from unpacking!

  1. Fancy finding Sienna’s orange in Budapest, when two cities can’t be more different 😀 This is a cool view Debbie. Excellent choice of location. Did you have a balcony too?

  2. Ha! I hadn’t thought of that. And neither have I been to Siena 😦
No, no balcony, but it is certainly a good spot. You can just walk behind the hotel and up the hill to enjoy the Castle area
