This type of sculpture is so differently interpreted by people, so interesting! I think for a lion, it kinda looks afraid or tamed.

It’s Venice’s old shipyard. Dates back to 13th century. A great program in BBC re enemy showed the incredible size of this place. They made a lot of ships! I’ll write more on it soon. And I’ll add a link to the program if I can.

Yes, I see what you mean. It is ancient Greek, but perhaps they had their own version of Pink Panther!
