Bee hive at Kew Gardens,  London,  February 2017

You can see the magnificent hive structure in its more natural format over here.

A colourful note:  the Purple Mountain’s Majesty crayon was named as part of Crayola’s 1993 naming competition, set to celebrate the company’s 90th anniversary. The poetic name comes from the lyrics of a patriotic American song, America the Beautiful.

Once again, I’ve cheated a little on the depiction of this shade.  A purple bee hive may not be entirely realistic, but bees do have soft spot for purple plants.
