Evzones in Syntagma Square, Athens, February 2019
The Presidential Guard, the Evzones, wear an intricate traditional uniform, with many layers, pleats and tassels. The heavy leather clogs, known as tsarouchia, weigh about 1.5 Kg each and are embellished with 60 to 120 nails per foot. These spiky soles replicate the sound of battle as the evzones march.

Interesting. I guess the USA (and most of the “New World”), has no thousand-year-old uniforms to equate.

Love Ark’s comment! They do look annoyed. And who wouldn’t dressed like that. Imagine having to walk in those boots! Love the image though, unusual spikes, even the bayonets!

Hob-Nailed cross- dressers?
They certainly do look somewhat cross, and that’s no maybe.
Then again, if we all had to dress like this maybe we would be a bit cheesed off as well!
