This 10 metre tall sculpture, named Liverpool Mountain, is the work of Swiss artist, Ugo Rondinone. It is his first public work in the UK, and was commissioned by Tate Liverpool and Liverpool Biennial in 2018. It will remain on display until 23 October 2020.
These precariously stacked rocks defy gravity, with the mountain demanding that we look up and admire. Rondinone was inspired by naturally occurring hoodoos (pyramids of rock) and the art of meditative rock balancing. That inspiration is very clear when you stand beneath it.

Wow, the little girl really helps portray the scale of the sculpture!!

I was so pleased to see her standing there – it was a very quickly grabbed shot as she wasn’t one for staying still!

I love the colour, but I’m struggling to see how this connects to the word “hill”.

It’s a big hill – it’s “Liverpool Mountain”

Precariously stacked rocks…and that child is right by them – clearly they are held together quite firmly!!

I like the little girl standing beside the sculpture. It makes me imagine what the size of it really is. Nice vivid colours.

I love the photo with the little child standing next to the mountain and also the later one with the pigeon giving it a skeptical look. Very interesting!

Interesting, I wonder if anyone gets the goosebumps standing under it

Interesting, it was hard to judge scale until I saw the shot with the child.
