Is that a flood area? Is that why the doors are high off the ground?

No, not particularly susceptible to floods. But is a fairly steep hill and most of the houses have basements so the raised doors are a practical solution. This is an ancient street, first documented in 1250, and many of the hoses date back to 16th and 17th century. It’s a great street to wander.
