The work of Gutface, Hackesche Höfe, Berlin, as seen in February 2023
The Estonian artist, Gutface ,aka Ingmar Jarve, expressed his delight at painting in this courtyard in Berlin on his Instagram post I June 2022: “had a chance to paint in the cool and very heavily art filled local courtyard where …. I sadly had to paint over @srpapachango work, which was so good and well made, sry bro. But it was a blast and filled with fun moments :)”

Enjoying street art has become a regular event on my travels around the world: more of my findings can be seen here

This was a stunning and quite unusual mural. Too bad he had to paint over another artist’s work, but I guess that is the story of many murals.

It’s what happens in street art. Though some artists are so respected they get to keep theirs in place for years. In this courtyard there are a few that never get painted over, including a couple by Osch. Next Monday I’ll show what replaced this cycle mural!

Lots of energy and speed depicted although I think those wheels wouldn’t actually work too well. 🙂

He certainly has a bold and energetic style. To me it felt a bit like a relaxed version of old socialist art – if you have a look at his Instagram you might see what I mean.

It was clearly a hug achievement for him (he was also in Berlin to appear in a more official exhibition)
