Lovely lace. Certainly delicate! I’m not sure I have any at all around the house anymore! Oh, I do… should have thought about it for this post!

My ancestors on my Father’s side were Huguenot refugees to the UK, and – if my memory serves – lacemakers to Queen Victoria.
Here’s my take on delicate, I hope you like it

An intriguing fact to find in your family history. Has it tempted you to try yourself?

I have not, yet, perhaps I should… However, I can barely sew on a button so I may not have inherited that particular gene!

It was nice to be offered something pretty to put on our heads. And they obviously expected a lot of visitors!

Ah yes, the stone walls do show off the intricate lace well

Delicate indeed. Especially in contrast with the surroundings.

Indeed. And there was plenty of delicate art on the walls and ceilings too. But you’ll just have to imagine that for now

I was surprised as many places just give a pile of scarves thrown in a basket for everyone to share (which is why I carry my own). These were organised so you took a fresh one from the left and then hung back with the used ones on the right.

…and then they wash them?

For peace of mind, let’s assume so.

Interesting, Marianne. When it’s attractive like this I enjoy wearing it as part of the tradition – a sign of respect to the religion I am joining in with.
And Armenia was the first country to adopt Christianity as its state religion, back in 301 AD and they are still very proud of that.
Unfortunately your link won’t work, so do pop a new one if you can

That is so interesting (“Armenia was the first country to adopt Christianity …”) I know there’s a problem with posting my links to challenge hosts. They ask me to give my password, over and over again. Even after I’ve given my password, I still can’t share my link. I’ll contact Customer Service

There are so many WordPress niggles at the moment. It is very frustrating.
It seems that the move to Christianity was something of a protection device. They wanted to stand out from surrounding countries so they didn’t get swallowed up so they declared it state religion. And have stayed that way ever since. Other religions are present too but Christianity remains the state religion.

That was SMART (Christianity as a “protection device” to ward off being swallowed up by adjoining countries)! RE: WordPress, are you asked to log in every time you publish a post? Because that’s what’s happening to me. I know they are only trying to keep hackers out, but it’s really, really a time trap.

No l’m not. But when I try to leave comments on some sites it asks me to log in. I think a lot depends on the theme you use. They clearly don’t do much testing and some changes have a bigger effect on some themes.

Did it feel lovely to wear? I hope they were at least cotton and not synthetic.
As always my delicate is different

Beautiful lace, Debbie. Do you know if it was handmade?

I don’t know, but probably not. This was put out for people that had turned up without anything for their head so I’m thinking they wouldn’t have put handmade lace out for general use. But I may be underestimating them.
I always carry a scarf with me but this was so nice I borrowed one. 😀
