C is for… Crumpet?

Fancy some crumpet?

I am a big coffee fan as you’ll know from the many coffee haunts I’ve blogged about.  But I am also a sucker for a proper cup of tea.  Add crumpets and jam and you’ve got me hooked.

Imagine my joy, then, when I discovered the cute Good and Proper van stationed outside Kings Cross.

The tea is brewed right before your eyes; just make your selection from the current menu of real leaf tea and then wait for the prescribed number of minutes for the perfect cuppa to arrive.

As for the crumpets, my “sweetie” was heaven.  It was a freezing cold morning and my hands were full with tea, crumpets and suitcases so no photo I’m afraid (plus, it moved extremely fast from serving box to tummy!).  But it was hot and crisp, with just the correct amount of drippy butter and tasty jam.

  1. Oh.

    Oh.

    Yum.

    Love, love crumpets!

And that sweet little tea van would have me screeching to a halt if I was driving by.

What a clever link for the letter C.

Thank you for sharing this smile!

  2. Is this something new? I was staying right across from Kings Cross in late August 2012 and never saw this. I’d love to try it out.

  3. Such a cute van full of tea and goodies!
I am thinking I would really like the Marmite Melt, so much so I may have to search out a local store with UK import foods to get a small jar of the tasty main item.
    Wonderful post!

    • Poor you, life would be sadder without crumpets. They are even a fairly low fat food item – until you coat them with butter, of course!

  4. How delightful. When I was taking students to GB, we stayed down one of the side streets across from Kings Cross. I loved it and now I know I would love it even more.

    • Oh yes, it’s completely different now. There are still some good bargain hotels to be had in the area plus some more luxurious ones. The area got quite rough for a while but now it clean and lively.

  5. Coffee, cups, crisp, clock, cart, candle and crumpets…and here I was wondering what I could use for the challenge. Oh, dear!! Just another way of saying I love your post.
