Monster in Paris

a1-00355

The Pompidou Centre opened to much controversy in 1977: an article in Le Figaro declared “Paris has its own monster, just like the one in Loch Ness.”

For me it’s classic Paris and over the years it has won many people over.  Even if you don’t like the architecture you cannot deny the richness of the exhibits.  In fact, it now has a branch in Metz, and is opening a pop-up, The Cube, in Málaga in Spring 2015.  Málaga is one of my favourite Spanish cities so I’m planning a visit for later in the year.

Linked to Geometric Friday and Blue Monday.

  1. You can not beat old world charm and the feeling of beauty in those buildings! But modern can mix well too. It is a great share and I am happy I stopped by. I missed linking to Blue Monday but put some blues up today. Come visit soon. Happy week!

    • I guess I like it for its bravery and boldness as much as anything. But I wouldn’t describe it as beautiful

  2. Lovely geometric photo of a Paris landmark. I’ve never been there, but I always liked the architecture. They say “form follows function” and it certainly looked functional, but I especially liked that it had such bright colors.

  3. wow, I’m a Málaga fan too! It’s interesting how that city will change with time…
I liked that monster but when I visited there there were far too many people in and out 🙂 but great place to experience!

    • The Malaga one looks beautiful. I just hope it doesn’t get put on hold for budgetary reasons. There is no firm date yet for opening, as far as I can see. Malaga gets overlooked by so many visitors to the area because they are heading to the beach. That’s perfect as far as I’m concerned – fewer crowds in the art galleries and the brilliant bars and restaurants. 🙂
