St Alban’s Abbey

a1_20150407_20150407__DSC2919_4000 x 6000   The Abbey in my home town was looking particularly grand in the Spring sunlight today. a1_20150407_20150407__DSC2948_6000 x 4000 I have to admit that although it is known locally as “the abbey”, its official name is the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban, since it became a cathedral in 1877.  Its 84 metre long nave is the longest of any cathedral in England, and it is the second longest cathedral in the UK after Winchester. a1_20150407_20150407__DSC2927_6000 x 4000
